Fencing for Blind

Accademia Scherma Milano has approved its project for blind fencing by the Non-Visible Onlus Sports Group of Milan with which it has started a constructive and fruitful collaboration for the practice and promotion of blind fencing throughout the Milan area.

Fencing for Blind is becoming increasingly popular throughout Italy, so much so that in 2014 the Italian Fencing Federation recognized a national circuit for this sport. Of the 3 Olympic weapons only the Sword is practiced. Compared to the Olympic discipline, there are only a few small differences among which a guideline for the entire length of the platform that guides the athlete towards his opponent, and a differentiated sound signal to make it easier to understand who brought the hit. In order for the hit to be considered valid, voluntary contact must have taken place between one's blade and the opponent's sword first.
